Bio
Hi, I’m Monet John, Content Marketing Manager at Founders Pledge. I’ve worked across content and social at places like Electric AI and Dotdash Meredith, focusing on storytelling that feels real and rooted in purpose. I studied criminal justice and later transitioned into communications. Most of what I’ve learned has come from doing the work. Outside of my 9 to 5, I’m a big foodie and love spending time with my husband and our son.
Q&A with Monet
Q: If you could choose anyone famous (real or fictional) to have dinner with who would they be and why?
If I could have dinner with anyone, it would be Issa Rae. She’s built a whole world by being herself, and I deeply admire how she’s made space for Black stories that feel honest and nuanced. I’d want to talk to her about how she stayed true to her voice while growing her empire and how she handles self-doubt. I just know the conversation would be full of laughter and a few gems I’d carry with me forever.
Q: As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
As a kid, I wanted to be a coroner. I was weirdly fascinated by forensics and used to watch CSI and Forensic Files like it was Saturday morning cartoons. I think part of me just wanted to understand the “why” behind things. Even back then I was curious about human behavior and the stories people leave behind.
Q: If a movie was made of your life what genre would it be, who would play you?
If they made a movie about my life, it would be a coming-of-age dramedy. I’d want it to feel layered, real, and a little chaotic, just like me. Danielle Brooks would play me because she brings both depth and softness. Plus, she’s got the range to hold my joy and my grit.
